Overview

This unit supports students’ transition into tertiary education and provide opportunities for students to start developing their professional identity. Students will be introduced to a variety of career pathways available to them following a nutrition degree and will begin to consider professionalism, professional boundaries and ethical practice. Students will begin to develop skills in evidence-based practice, communication, teamwork, reflective practice and leadership.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Identify relevant knowledge and skills as they relate to careers in nutrition
  • Create a professional development plan based on career interests in nutrition
  • Describe the professional and ethical behaviours required in nutrition practice
  • Demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate using both verbal and written formats.
