Overview
This unit enables students to select and apply occupationally focused assessments and interventions for individuals or communities who are experiencing complex mental health conditions. Students learn to apply key components of evidence-based interventions including vocational, cognitive-behavioural, sensory, case management and health promotion interventions to specialist practice areas.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Select and apply an occupational therapy conceptual practice model to complex mental health scenarios
- Select and apply professional practice models including education and remediation approaches with individuals or health promotion and community development with communities, which will guide assessment and service provision
- Investigate and synthesise person or community, environment and occupation factors to design service provision plans
- Articulate professional reasoning and critique of evidence to justify and evaluate service provision with individuals and communities
- Demonstrate research and communication skills
