Overview

In this unit, students will choose, describe, apply and justify principles of assessment and intervention for individuals or populations experiencing occupational performance challenges as a result of complex health conditions. Students learn to apply key components of health promotion interventions, as well as occupation based strategies to improve health and wellbeing for individuals and communities.

Learning outcomes

Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:

  • Select and apply an occupational therapy conceptual practice model to individuals and communities experiencing complex health problems
  • Select and apply professional practice models to promote health and wellbeing of individuals and communities
  • Investigate and synthesise person or community, environment and occupation factors to design service provision plans in complex settings
  • Articulate professional reasoning and critique of evidence to justify intervention plan for individuals and communities experiencing complex health issues
  • Generate solutions to complex issues applying best available evidence, communicating this with creative presentations and concise reports
