Behaviour and Communications in Organisations
Overview
This unit is designed to provide students with an understanding of the nature and importance of communication, interpersonal skills, and individual and group development, the context of work and the students’ role as an organisation member, especially in the global context. Through the use of experiential teaching approaches students will develop skills that are effective for individual and team-based roles in today's changing organisations. The unit provides an opportunity to build fundamental academic skills, including written and verbal communication, presentation, reference skills, intellectual independence, analysis, synthesis, research, transfer of learning from one situation to another
Requisites
Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Understand the nature and importance of communication, interpersonal skills, individual and group development to members of organisations
- Develop written and verbal communication skills
- Develop and refine interpersonal skills as team members in today's changing organisations
- Experiment with various techniques, theories and approaches to communication and management
- Appreciate the context of work and their own roles as organisation members, especially in the global context
