Overview
This unit provides students with an understanding of the economics and delivery of health services within a private, public and community healthcare setting. Students will consolidate skills and knowledge preparing them to enter the workforce as a work-ready professional. Students will apply interdisciplinary frameworks within marketing, business and entrepreneurship to problem solve, develop and deliver physiotherapy services in the community.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Explain the scope of professional practice and ethical conduct requirements of entry to work as a health professional
- Explore and examine the different health economic models of treatment funding being public, private, health insurance, work cover, Medicare, TAC and others
- Evaluate themselves as future professionals and examine requirements of work readiness for employment or starting a business as a health professional
- Research and apply the legal and professional requirements for setting up a private practice/business in their profession and develop a business case and marketing plan
- Critically appraise characteristics, mindset and skills required to effectively deliver a healthcare service to the public as a health professional while demonstrating ethical conduct, and self-reflect on how this can be applied in their own situation

- Principles of industrial relations and legislation, human resource management, risk assessment
- Acts of law, including Workplace Health and Safety, Anti-discrimination Act, Privacy Act, Guardianship, insurances required and Advanced Health Directives
- Logistics and operation of a physiotherapy practice

- Preparation for interviews, cover letters and addressing selection criteria
