Overview
This unit explores the process of producing volumetric assets for screen productions. From pre-production, planning and visualisation, through to acquisition and post production, students will explore the creation of assets for spatialised environments along with compositing procedures and practices. This unit is tailored for those with an interest in creating for a wide range of screen genres including cinematic and extended reality (XR) environments.

Learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this unit will be able to:
- Plan a visual effects project, including documentation and pre-visualisation
- Use volumetric capture technology to capture assets suitable for visual effects post-production and compositing work
- Apply the principles of spatialised cinematography suitable for compositing
- Integrate the principles of visual effects software and post-production workflows and paths
- Construct a professional visual effects aesthetic
- Produce a visual effects piece to an industry standard level
- Evaluate the purposes and limitations of volumetric capture techniques and workflow as applied to a visual effects project
