Biography
Anamika brings over 13 years of research, teaching, and industry experience in early childhood education to her role at Swinburne. Prior to joining Swinburne, Anamika served as the lecturer and program director of the Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood at RMIT, where she made a significant contribution to the field of early childhood education. She has been working with a diverse range of teams, including casual staff, workforce, L&T, enrolment, adminstrative, placement, production and marketing teams. She has experience in re-accreditation process, with a particular focus on documentation, course mapping, redesigning the unit contents and assignments etc. She has demonstrated her ability to work independently while also being a team leader of the diverse team.
Her PhD, focused on the cultural-historical theoretical lens grounded in children's imaginative play to develop every day and scientific concepts through play. Anamika's research and teaching interests are diverse and wide-ranging, with a focus on play and pedagogy in varied cultural contexts, theories in early childhood development, STEM, literacy, numeracy, and cultural-historical perspective on play. She has been working on a funded project to understand early childhood in-service teachers' view towards the use of play to engage children in STEM education. In addition, she is working on two non-funded STEM projects in collaboration with Charles Sturt University, RMIT in Australia, and Wenzhou-Kean University, China. Anamika is a published author of several journal articles, including two book chapters, and a member of various professional organizations such as ECA, AGECS, AARE, VECRC, ECTEN, ATEA, and ASERA.
