Dr Behzad Nematollahi

Adjunct Research Fellow

Biography

Dr. Nematollahi is currently an Australian Research Council (ARC) DECRA Fellow at the Center for Smart Infrastructure and Digital Construction.

Dr. Nematollahi received his Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) in 2018 funded by the Australian Research Council. His DECRA project aims to develop 3D-printable high-performance fiber-reinforced geopolymer/Portland cement concretes for digital construction applications. DECRA is a highly prestigious Fellowship Program for Early Career Researchers as part of ARC National Competitive Grants Program, which is incredibly competitive with a success rate of 16%.

Dr. Nematollahi has 10 years of research experience in concrete technology and construction materials. Further, he has experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer and Construction Supervisor for almost 4 years in the industry. Dr. Nematollahi’s main research interests include 3D Concrete Printing, Geopolymer Concrete, Strain-Hardening Cementitious Composites (SHCC) and Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC).

Dr. Nematollahi obtained his PhD in Structural Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Jay Sanjayan at Swinburne University of Technology, where he worked on multi-scale development and investigation of properties of fiber-reinforced Strain-Hardening Geopolymer Composites (SHGC) as a sustainable alternative to SHCC.
